John Field

Superintendent - Crime and Protective Services

John Field joined the police service in March 1992. During his early years he served for a short spell within front line policing and then progressed to CID and Drug Squad from where he was promoted to Sergeant in 2003.

He then served again in frontline policing and returned to CID where he was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2008. He led the RGP’s Search Team whilst performing duties again in frontline policing, Neighbourhood Policing, CID and then assumed the role of the Executive Co-ordinators of the Gibraltar Co-ordinating Centre for Criminal Intelligence and Drugs with local responsibility for Interpol.

He was promoted to Chief Inspector in 2018 and returned to the frontline Operations Division, before taking up the role of Detective Chief Inspector of Crime and Protective Services.

In 2020, he was promoted to Superintendent and remains in charge of this division.

Superintendent Field is currently an active Public Order Silver Commander and will be progressing his studies/accreditations to lead the RGP in this business area.

In his free time, he is a Bonsai enthusiast and enjoys playing table soccer, commonly known as Subbuteo.
