Nolan Romero

Superintendent Operations

Nolan Romero joined the Royal Gibraltar Police in June 1998. During the first three years of his career, he was operationally deployed in frontline policing and then transferred to crime as a Detective Constable in the Fraud Squad. He was also a member of the Firearms Tactical Unit, Police Search Team and the Public Order Unit. In 2012, he was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Neighbourhood Policing Unit with responsibility of Community Policing and tackling Anti-Social behaviour. Mr Romero later moved to Crime and Protected Services as a Detective Sergeant whereby he lead multiple high profile investigations.

In 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector where he took on the role as Response Team Inspector  within the Operations Division. He later assumed the role of Resource Management Inspector responsible for the management of police resources, deployment and event policing. In 2019 he was promoted to Chief Inspector of the Operational Division, where he was responsible for Response Teams, Marine Section, Traffic Department, firearms, K9 and Neighbourhood policing.

In 2016, Mr Romero qualified as a Post Incident Manager and in 2018 as a Public Order & Public Safety Bronze Commander. During 2020, Mr Romero led the RGP’s strategic response plans to meet the challenges of Covid-19 policing and internal resilience.

In March 2021, Mr Romero was promoted to Superintendent, remaining in the Operations Division. In his free time, he enjoys a family life and keeping fit.
