Arrests following RGP Marine Section pursuit.

No: 59/26

Date: 10th July 2026

Two Spanish nationals are due to appear before the Magistrates' Court this morning, after being arrested and charged by RGP Marine Section officers following a pursuit in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW).

20 year old Nizar Mohamed Mohamed, and 23 year old Usama Mohamed Cheque, both Spanish nationals and residents of La Linea, have been charged with the offences of Dangerous User, Entering a Regulated Area and Obstructing Police.

The arrests and charges follow a pursuit yesterday morning in BGTW, after RGP Marine Section officers on board Sir Francis Richards responded to a report of a vessel being pursued by Moroccan authorities and heading towards Gibraltar.

The RGP Marine crew took over the pursuit after the vessel had entered BGTW, continuing along Gibraltar's eastern side, with the suspect vessel conducting evasive manoeuvres that culminated with the vessel entering the regulated channel at Eastern Beach, following which it was boarded by RGP officers.

The occupants were arrested and conveyed to New Mole House, where they were later interviewed and charged. The vessel has been detained pending further enquiries into its owenership.
