BURGLARY ARRESTS

3 men have been arrested and charged with burglary during the course of this weekend.

On the evening of Friday 24th November 2017, two 21 year old local men, Kyle Kevin Lopez and Nabil Medhurst, were arrested by uniformed officers investigating a report of Burglary at the Victoria Stadium bar the previous night. After gaining entry into the premises via a window the men stole an amount of money from the cash till that was damaged in the process.

Both men were subsequently jointly charged with Burglary and detained in Police custody pending their appearance in court later this morning

On Saturday 25th November, 21 year old local man, Sean Casey, was arrested by uniformed officers on suspicion of Burglary at St Paul’s School in Varyl Begg Estate. The arrest came about when officers attended the school following reports from members of the public regarding a possible burglary in progress at the school. On arrival officers found several classrooms had been ransacked and on conducting a search of the premises they found Casey within the school library. On effecting the arrest one of the officers was assaulted by Casey who kicked the officer in the abdomen.

Casey was subsequently charged with:

  • 1x count of Burglary
  • 1x count of Assaulting a Police Officer
  • 1x count of Disorderly Conduct in a Police station
  • 2x counts of Criminal Damage.

He was detained in Police custody and will appear in court later this morning.
