54 year old Richard Parody, a resident of Edinburgh Estate, was yesterday convicted at the Magistrates' Court on charges of "Driving a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit" and "Possession of a Controlled Class A drug."

Parody, who had originally pleaded "Not Guilty," changed his pleas to "Guilty" on the scheduled trial date.

The charges related to an incident on Sunday 14th July 2024, when a police officer stopped Parody after observing his vehicle driving at a high speed in the area of Queensway.

Parody failed a breathalyser test and was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit. After being conveyed to New Mole House Police Station, he was found to have been in possession of wrapper containing suspected cocaine.

At the Magistrates' Court, Parody was fined £540.00 in respect of the drink driving offence and disqualified from driving for a period of 17 months. He was fined an additional £270.00 in respect of the drugs possession charge.
