Two for the price of one...

A big thank you to the anonymous member of the public who called us last night regarding a local male who decided it was a good idea to drive his car while drinking a pint of beer.

Not surprisingly, this attracted some attention.

A patrol car quickly arrived on the scene near Morrison’s Petrol Station and found the car and driver in question, with the pint in his cup holder in the centre console.

A quick road side breath test of the driver gave a reading of 66ug/100ml of breath – (the legal limit is 35ug!) so the man, 33, was promptly arrested.

While all this was going on, his front seat passenger tried to sneakily dispose of some Class B Drugs behind a wall, thinking that our officers weren’t watching him.

They were, as it turns out, very much watching him.

Officers seized the drugs and then arrested the other local male, 44, on suspicion of Possession of Class B Drugs.

A great result thanks to help from the public.

If anyone has concerns about a person driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they can call the RGP in confidence on 200 72500 or 199 in emergencies.
