Algerian Man suspected of New Harbours robbery remanded in custody

Locally resident Algerian national Mourad Said who faces charges of conspiracy to rob, robbery and possession of a prohibited weapon in connection with a break in at the New Harbours Industrial Estate last June, has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at the Supreme Court on Friday November 2 2018.

The 39 year old man who had been held in custody since his arrest by the RG Police on Friday October 26 2018, appeared before Justices of the Peace at the Magistrates Court this morning.

Following the robbery, 1.5 million euros was reported stolen to the police.

A second man, a Moroccan national arrested in connection with the robbery has been granted police bail pending further inquiries.

The RGP is continuing its investigation.
