The Royal Gibraltar Police will be implementing a number of parking restrictions, road closures and diversions as part of the wider policing and security operation for this year’s National Day celebrations.
Parking Restrictions
Timings: 10:00pm Wednesday 9th September until 5:00pm on Thursday 10th September 2026.
Corral Road / Market Place
o Loading Bays adjacent to Bus Terminal
o Taxi Rank adjacent to Bus Terminal
o Motorcycle parking bay located outside Gilberts take-away.
o Public Service Vehicle and motorcycle parking areas adjacent to and opposite the Ocean restaurant.
o Motorcycle parking area by the Smith Dorrien Bridge underpass.
Waterport Road
o Parking spaces on the Western carriageway opposite the area of Ramsons supermarket – this area will replace the Market Place bus terminal.
Devil’s Tongue Road
o This area will be subject to temporary parking restrictions and operate a one-way system during the specified timings, in order to facilitate a taxi-rank to operate from this location. Once Market Place and Corral Road have been re-opened, all Public Service Vehicles operating from Waterport and Devil’s Tongue Road will revert to their usual locations.
Fish Market Road
o Initial section from junction with Corral Road up to and including loading/unloading bays adjacent to Public Market, as well as the Bin Store.
Timings: 10:00pm Wednesday 9th September until 3:00am on Friday 11th September 2026.
Line Wall Road
o Parking spaces on the Southern carriageway opposite the GibOil Petrol Station will be assigned to a temporary Taxi Rank.
Timings: 9:00pm Thursday 10th September until 3:00am on Friday 11th September 2026.
Casemates Hill
o The Taxi Rank at Casemates Hill will be suspended temporarily, with both the Casemates Hill and Market Place taxi-ranks operating from Line Wall Road during the period of this restriction.
Timings: 10:00pm Wednesday 9th September until 3:00am on Friday 11th September 2026.
Cooperage Lane / Irish Town
o Loading Bays located outside the rear of the ICC, junction of Irish Town with Cooperage Lane.
Crutchett’s Ramp
o Parking restrictions will be in place for entirety of this area.
Timings: 6:00pm on Thursday 10th September Day until midnight on the same day.
Peter Isola promenade
o Parking restrictions will be in force across the entirety of this area in connection with the National Day Fireworks display.
Road Closures
Timings: 10:30am until 5:00pm on Thursday 10th September 2026.
Corral Road:
o Closure will take place between Waterport Roundabout / Corral Road junction up to the Smith Dorrien Bridge underpass. Access to Landport Ditch car park will be possible from Winston Churchill Avenue/Corral Road junction.
Fish Market Road:
o Controlled access will be available only for residents of Ocean Heights.
Timings: 9:00am on Thursday 10th September until 1:00am on Friday 11th September 2026.
Cooperage Lane:
o Full closure during this period and access only possible for Emergency Services vehicles.
Bus & Taxi services.
Bus Services:
o The Market Place bus terminus will be relocated to Waterport Road opposite Ramsons Supermarket for National Day, and will resume normal operations as from 5:00pm on National Day.
Taxi Service:
o The Market Place & Casemates Hill taxi ranks will be relocated to Line Wall Road opposite Gib Oil petrol station.
The Market Place taxi rank specifically will resume normal operations as from 5:00pm on National Day.
An additional taxi rank will operate from Devil’s Tongue Road temporarily during this period, and it too will revert to Market Place once restrictions are lifted at 5:00pm on National Day.
Bicycles and Personal Light Electric Transporters (PLETs).
Timings: 10:00pm on Wednesday 9th September until 3:00am on Friday 11th September 2026.
Market Place
o Parking / Securing of bicycles and PLETs will be NOT be permitted in the areas adjacent to the Exchange Bureau and outside the Public Market, as indicated by signage at location.
Casemates Square (outside Burger King, Casemates Hill and Landport Tunnel Casemates exit)
o Parking / Securing of bicycles and PLETs will be NOT be permitted at these locations, as indicated by signage at location.
