The RGP confirms one of its patrol vans was extensively damaged last night in a collision at Town range. The patrol van was involved in a pursuit of a motorcyclist riding in a dangerous manner, at a speed and against the flow of traffic.
The rider, a 49yr old local man tested positive to a roadside drugs test and has been arrested for various traffic offences and a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Magistrates’ Court. He has since been granted police bail.
All the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and subsequent collision are subject to further investigation.
