Traffic Arrangements - Pride March & Armed Forces Day

Traffic Management Arrangements – Pride Parade (28/6/2025) and Armed Forces Day Parade (29/06/2025)

 

The Royal Gibraltar Police will be implementing several parking restrictions, road closures and traffic diversions as part of the wider RGP security and policing operations for this year’s Pride Parade on Saturday 28th June and the Armed Forces Day Parade at 10am on Sunday 29th June 2025.

 

1.   Pride Parade 2025 (28/06/2025)

 

Parking Restrictions (8:00am Saturday 28th June until further notice).

 

·         Cathedral Square (Taxi-Rank) as directed by signage.

 

Road Closures (10:00am – 2:00pm on Saturday 28th June)

 

·         Cannon lane / Bishop Rapallo’s Ramp.

·         John Mackintosh Square.

·         Entrance to John Mackintosh Square into town will be diverted for approximately 45min until the parade returns to Casemates Square.

·         George’s Lane.

 

Traffic Diversions

 10:00am – 2:00pm on Saturday 28th June

 

·               George’s Lane – current access from Town Range for authorised vehicles, including taxis, will be restricted, and will therefore need to continue south towards Convent Place.

 

1:20pm – 1:30pm on Saturday 28th June.

 

·          Secretary’s lane / Cathedral Square – there will be a temporary diversion for vehicular traffic travelling from Secretary’s Lane into Cathedral Square for approximately 10 minutes, whilst the parade passes through this area. Consequently, traffic will be diverted into Line Wall Road by Duke of Kent House to proceed south towards Southport Gates. 

2.   Armed Forces Day Parade (29/06/2025)

 Parking Restrictions (10:00pm on Saturday 28th June until further notice).

 

·                  Trafalgar Hill (Taxi-Rank outside Trafalgar Cemetery)

·                  Main Street (South) between John Mackintosh Hall to No.6 Convent Place.

·                  Corral Road (area between Market Place to and entrance to Landport

Ditch carpark)

·                  Waterport Road opposite Watergardens – to enable the relocation of Market Place bus terminus and taxi-rank.

·                  Devil’s Tongue Road – to enable the relocation of Market Place taxi shuttle service for cruise liner passengers.

·                  John Mackintosh Square – outside City Hall and all loading bays situated on the southern side of the Square. 

 

Bicycle / PLET parking restrictions (10:00pm Saturday 28th June until further notice)

 

The parking/securing of bicycles/PLETS at various locations in the Town area will be prohibited, as indicated by signage already in place.

 

Road Closures & Traffic Diversions

 

Sunday 29th June - 8:30am to 11:00am 

 

·         Market Place – closed at junction with Waterport Roundabout, with limited access into Fish Market Road for residents only.

 

·         Corral Road – closed by Market Place and also by the entrance to Landport Ditch carpark. Access to this carpark will be possible from Smith Dorrien and Winston Churchill Avenue for vehicles, and additionally for pedestrians from King’s Lines / Landport Tunnel.

 

·         Devil’s Tongue Road – will operate as a one-way system from Queensway, to enable relocation of the Market Place taxi shuttle service for cruise liner passengers. Residents exiting Montagu Crescent garage will be required to turn left into Waterport Road.

 

Sunday 29th June – 10:00-10:15am

 

·         John Mackintosh Square – will be closed to vehicular traffic during this time.

 

·         Convent Place – will be closed to vehicular traffic travelling from Upper Town / Town Range during this time, diverted south along Town Range behind No 6 Convent Place towards Hargraves Parade, Prince Edward’s Road and Flat Bastion Road.

 

·         Upper Town - traffic travelling down into the city-centre via Governor’s Street and Town Range will be diverted south past Convent Place along Town Range, past King’s Yard Lane towards Hargraves Parade, Prince Edward’s Road and Flat Bastion Road.

 

Sunday 29th June - 10:00 – 11:00am.

 

·         Trafalgar Interchange (both northbound lanes into Main Street / Southport Gates) will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

 

·       Convent Ramp – vehicles travelling south along Line Wall Road (Lovers Lane) will not be permitted to turn left into Convent Ramp by the rear of the John Mackintosh Hall. Access to Upper Town will be possible by continuing south towards Southport Gates into Trafalgar Interchange, Boyd’s Street and Prince Edward’s Road.

 

·         General vehicular access to the Upper Town will be possible via Boyd Street and Europa Road into Prince Edward’s Road.

·         George’s Lane – no vehicular access will be possible from Town Range.

·         Queensway will remain open at all times.

 

Gibraltar Bus & Taxi Services.

 

·       Market Place – Bus Terminus and taxi-rank will be temporarily relocated to Waterport Road opposite Watergardens during the morning of Sunday 29th June, as will the taxi shuttle service for cruise liner passengers, which will operate from Devil’s Tongue Road by Montagu Crescent.

 

·       Trafalgar Hill – Taxi-rank and bus-stop outside Trafalgar Cemetery will be temporarily relocated further up the hill outside Trafalgar House.
