Two individuals charged following a domestic-related incident and assaults on RGP officers.

22-year-old Ben Brown, of MacFarlane House, together with a 16-year-old female, have been charged with a number of offences following an incident that occurred at a residential property in the early hours on Thursday 23rd July 2026.

Response Team officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic related incident, and upon arrival heard screaming and shouting from within the residence in question. Officers found Brown and the female within and displaying minor injuries, and whilst attempting to separate the parties and obtain accounts, Brown was arrested of suspicion of Common Assault. Both individuals then lashed out violently towards the officers, resisting arrest and punching, scratching and spitting at several officers.

They were eventually restrained and conveyed to New Mole House.

A total of 5 officers assaulted during this incident sustained facial injuries that did not require hospitalisation.

Both defendants were later charged as follows:

BROWN

1 count of Resisting / Obstructing Police

2 counts of Assault on Police

The female juvenile was charged as follows:

1 count of Resisting / Obstructing Police

4 counts of Assault on Police

Upon their first appearance before the Magistrates’ Court, BROWN was remanded in custody at HM Prison Windmill Hill, with the female juvenile granted bail with conditions, which included a curfew.
